It has been confirmed that layers of “black gold” [oil] exist in the

territory
of the Lukuru Project.

The Minister for Hydrocarbons, Mr. Lambert Mende, announced that there is already foreign investor interest. Since the internationalinvestors have already announced their interest, exploration and prospection drilling should begin as soon as possible. To compound the imminent threat, the provincial authorities have been implied in the investments of this discovery, so their motivation is exponentially increased.

So rich in its wonderful wildlife and now all of these discoveries of resources will surely cause more man-made brutality against the animals — why? I ask myself each day!

i read that in the southern congo bassin
there were discoveries of completely new
sorts of fish. found and immediately wiped out by oil companies?
i appreciate that you stay there even in
dark times.

in the amazon rainforest of ecuador an indian tribe chased a oil company away (by clever politics). But big parts of their home was destroyed. i’am goin to find pictures of oil extraction there.

WHAT ARE THE NUMBRS LEFT IN THE WILD — ARE ANY SANSTUARY’S IN PLACE FOR THESE ANIMALS AS THE BUSH MEAT TRADE HEIGHTENS IT SEEMS — THE LOCALS DON’T SEEM TO CARE AT ALL TO KILL THEM IN BIG NUMBERS.

Its not the case everywhere:
according to ashley the people of obenge are not native people from the
forests.
And natives like
the Mangbetu tribe, the Bateke tribe,
and others of the Mongo group have traditional taboos against killing bonobos. And they are very often willing to establish community forests, with good management - such like kokolopori(please google to bonobo.org ) and good bonobo populations. We must support them.
The problem is not local hunting, it is commercial hunting for bushmeat - mostly from members of the militar.

Thank you for the info and I will go to the website — how horrible that the local people care and then others invade all that they try to do — this military either side it seems doesn’t seem care at all if they dessimate what is left - for some reason although I love the gorillas it breaks my heart for the bonobo!

bonobos are so sensible and intelligent.
yes i’m with you.
